Published in the Virginia Gazette on 20 June 1771.[1] George Wythe, in his capacity as clerk of the House of Burgesses, orders the Virginia county clerks to transmit lists of titheables and public charges of their respective counties to the clerk of the House of Burgesses.[2] The Clerk of the House of Burgesses will then publish these lists in the Virginia Gazette.[3]

THURSDAY, December 4, 1766.

On a Motion made,

ORDERED, THAT the Clerks of the several County Courts in this Colony do transmit to the Clark of this House, in the first Part of every Meeting of the General Assembly, a List of the Tithables in their Counties, containing the Names of such Tithables; and that they transmit also, at the same Time, a List of the publick Charges of their respective Counties.

ORDERED, That the Clerk of this House do cause the same to be published in the Virginia Gazette.
