Virginia Gazette (Purdie & Dixon), 14 September 1769
Printed five times in the Virginia Gazette between September 14, 1769 and September 28, 1769.[1] George Wythe,in his capacity as clerk of the House of Burgesses, orders the clerks of the county courts in Virginia to transmit a list of the tithables and public charges within their counties to the House of Burgesses. The clerk of the House of Burgesses will then publish these lists in the Virginia Gazette.

THURSDAY, December 4, 1766.
On a motion made,
ORDERED,THAT the Clerks of the several country courts in this colony do transmit to the Clerk of this House, in the first part of every meeting of the General Assembly, a list of the tithables in their counties, containing the names of such tithables; and that the transmit also, at the same time, a list of the public charges of their respective counties. Ordered, That the Clerk of this House do cause the same to be published in the Virginia Gazette.
