Wythe to Thomas Jefferson, 28 October 1776
George Wythe tells Thomas Jefferson that he had not received his letter from 10 days ago until it was too late to answer by the current date of October 28. Wythe tells Jefferson, who is likely living in Wythe's house in Williamsburg, to make use of the house and furniture so that Jefferson and his wife are comfortable.
Your letter of the 18th instant, by some accident or other, did not come to hand before it was too late to answer it by this days post. Make use of the house and furniture. I shall be happy if any thing of mine can contribute to make your and mrs Jefferson’s residence in Williamsburg comfortable. Adieu.
