Published in the Virginia Gazette on 23 January, 1778.[1] A summary of recent news states that George Wythe has been chosen as one of the judges of the High Court of Chancery alongside Edmund Pendleton and Robert Nicholas. [2]

Williamsburg, January 23.

A LETTER from a Gentleman in Cape Francois to his friend here, dated December 23, 1777, says, "There certainly will be a French war very soon, as there are troops arriving here dai; y, some of them are destined for Canada in the spring, others are in the Spanish pay, and are to go against Jamaica.

The drawing of the first class of the United States lottery is postponed till the first day of May next, When it will absolutely commerce drawing.

The Hon. EDMUND PENLETON, GEORGE WYTHE , and ROBERT C. NICHOLAS, Esquires, are chosen Judges of the High Court of Chancery, with a salary of 500l. per annum each,
