Pollexfen's Reports, which commence in 1670 and were published in 1702, are concerned almost entirely with property matters, principally the proper mode of making estates and settlements. Of greatest interest is the report of his own argument in the duke of Norfolk's case, in which Pollexfen condemned contingencies, which ‘hang over estates like clouds’ (Arguments and Reports, 250). Lord Chancellor Nottingham's famed rule in this case gave the opposite view. [1]
