Published three times in the Virginia Gazette in April of 1772.[1] George Wythe, in his capacity as clerk of the House of Burgesses, orders that the treasurer publishes the names of all sheriffs who have failed to collect and account for the public taxes, as well as the balance of taxes due, in the Virginia Gazette.[2].

Monday, the 30th of March, 12th Geo. III. 1772.
ORDERED, that Mr. TREASURER do cause the Names of all the Sheriffs who have failed to collect and account for the publick Taxes, together with the Balances due from them respectively, to be published in the VIRGINIA GAZETTE, at such Times as he shall think proper, before the 10th Day of November next,
