Prest's careful comparison of this law-French edition with the posthumously-published Law, or a Discourse Thereof (1627) and surviving manuscripts established that this 1613 text postdated all the English versions and represents the final stage of Finch's efforts to formulate a comprehensive view of the common law.[1]
