The Committee on Clothing writes to the President of the Congress John Hancock telling him to pay $70,000 to the Delegates of Connecticut for them to give the sum to their Governor and Council of Safety to pay for transporting clothing to the United States soldiers.

Philadelphia Nov 4 1776

Sir,

Please to pay to the Delegates of the State of Connecticut, the Sum of Seventy thousand Dollars, to be by Them transmitted to the Governor & Council of Safety for that State, to be by Them improved to passage Clothing for the Soldiers in the Service of the united States, They to be accountable & Charge the Sums to the Committee, according to a Resolve of Congress of the 25th Sept. Last.
